RM of BTS Debuts First Documentary Right Person, Wrong Place at Busan International Film Festival

In a significant moment for both RM of BTS and the K-pop world, RM’s first documentary Right Person, Wrong Place premiered at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). The film, centered on RM’s creative journey over eight months as he crafted his second solo album, captivated the audience on the evening of October 7, KST, at the festival’s Open Cinema section. This marks a historic occasion as the first-ever K-pop documentary to be invited to this section of the festival.

The documentary delves deeply into RM's artistic process, reflecting on the emotional and personal challenges he faced while working on the album, which was released on May 24, 2024. The release was followed by his single Muse in July, marking another milestone in his solo career. RM previously released Indigo in 2020, which was among the first projects in his solo venture outside of BTS.

Despite heavy rains threatening to disrupt the evening, fans and attendees filled the outdoor theatre at Busan Cinema Theatre, showing immense support for the artist. RM’s collaboration with various artists is highlighted in the documentary, including contributions from Balming Tiger’s San Yawn and Jang Se Hun. The director, Lee Seok Joon, and the production team also made an appearance before the premiere, expressing their gratitude to RM and his audience.

Lee Seok Joon, the documentary’s director, described Right Person, Wrong Place as a deeply personal reflection of RM’s inner self. “It’s a deep record of RM’s emotions, something everyone has felt at some point in life,” Lee explained. The film’s assistant director, Im Soo Bin, and music director, Junkyard (JNKYRD), were also present to share in the celebration, further emphasizing how the project captures RM’s personal and artistic evolution.

The Busan International Film Festival highly praised the documentary, describing it as "a making-of-album film and a very special journal of youth." This unique portrayal of RM’s creative process not only highlights his growth as a musician but also offers fans an intimate glimpse into his personal reflections and emotional journey.
