Actor Nia Sharma recently opened up about the whirlwind of rumors surrounding her involvement in Bigg Boss 18. The buzz started during the grand finale of Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, when filmmaker Rohit Shetty announced Nia as the first confirmed contestant for the upcoming reality show. However, Nia soon took to Instagram to deny the claims, leaving fans and media confused. Now, in a candid interview with Pinkvilla, Nia has shed light on the situation and clarified that it was all part of a strategic publicity stunt.
Nia Sharma Addresses the Speculation
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Nia Sharma revealed that her supposed participation in Bigg Boss 18 was never set in stone. She explained that the announcement during the grand finale of Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 was orchestrated by the channel, Colors, to generate excitement around the new season of the popular reality show. Nia said, “It was Colors. I was told at the very last minute. I was supposed to go for Laughter Chefs integration, but a few days after the announcement, Laughter Chefs got canceled. So eventually, when I was supposed to go, and I wasn't supposed to go, the whole thing was to create a buzz, and I think they succeeded very well.”
Nia further shared that she had no issue with the channel using her name to drum up interest. Having worked with Colors on two previous shows, she respected their strategy and fully supported their plan. “If it was when planning or anything like that, it's okay to play along. I could not write the next day. People told me so many harsh words even though I apologised humbly. I was not supposed to put up a note. All that was done by the Colors team. It was their strategy, and it was up to them. I am working for them, and if they are doing something in my name, it's completely alright,” she added.
Nia's Reaction to the Hype
Despite the confusion and backlash from fans, Nia maintained a positive attitude towards the situation. She admitted that the whole experience, while chaotic, was enjoyable due to the amount of hype it generated. "The hype was huge, which I enjoyed," she said, acknowledging that the strategy worked in the channel’s favor by keeping audiences engaged.
Nia also emphasized that she wasn’t upset with the way things unfolded, even though she faced criticism online after the announcement. She took the situation in stride and understood that it was all part of the entertainment industry's way of creating excitement around major shows like Bigg Boss.
The Origins of the Buzz
The stir began during the Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 grand finale last month when Rohit Shetty, the show’s host and renowned filmmaker, surprised everyone by revealing Nia Sharma as the first confirmed contestant of Bigg Boss 18. The announcement came as a shock, leading to speculation and excitement among her fans. However, just days later, Nia cleared the air on social media, stating that she was not a part of the upcoming season, which left fans with more questions than answers.
Now, Nia has provided the much-needed clarity, explaining that the announcement was never intended to be a concrete confirmation but rather a tactic to build anticipation for the new season.
With Bigg Boss 18 on the horizon, Nia Sharma’s involvement in the rumors has certainly succeeded in creating the buzz Colors wanted. While the actor won’t be stepping into the Bigg Boss house, her candidness about the situation reflects her professionalism and willingness to support the channel’s creative decisions. As the hype continues to build for the show, fans will be eager to see what other surprises are in store.
Nia’s revelations highlight the intricate strategies that go into promoting reality TV, proving that sometimes, the hype itself is all part of the game.
